Wayne City, IL – The Fourth Annual Jason Leffler Memorial Race and Auction will be headlined by Minnesota-based recording artist, Tim Mahoney. In 2011, Mahoney was selected to be a member of Team Adam on one of the nation’s highest rated reality singing competitions, The Voice. During his time on the show, Mahoney’s duet “Leather and Lace” with Casey Weston climbed the iTunes singles chart. Mahoney’s performance will kick off the Leffler Memorial Auction, which is being held at the Stringer Performance Race Shop (15473 County Road 925 N McLeansboro, IL 62859) facility in McLeansboro, IL on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, one night prior to the Thursday night running of the Leffler Memorial Race.
The Leffler Memorial Auction features a combination of silent and live auction items. Past items have included a signed Dale Earnhardt Jr racing helmet, signed Russell Wilson Seattle Seahawks helmet with additional Kasey Kahne signature, professional sports ticket packages to the St. Louis Blues, Indiana Pacers and more, a signed guitar featuring signatures from members of the Beastie Boys, NSYNC* and other musicians along with many other items spanning professional sports, music and other genres of entertainment. A portion of the proceeds from the auction are donated to the Charlie Dean Leffler Discretionary Trust. The trust was established after the passing of Jason Leffler, a long-time friend of track owner Doug Stringer, in June 2013 in order to help in the needs of Leffler’s young son, Charlie.
The Leffler Memorial Auction acts as the official kick-off to the Jason Leffler Memorial Race, which will be held at the Wayne County Speedway facility on October 20th, 2016. After receiving the track’s largest crowd to date for the race last year, Stringer spent a lot of time thinking of a way to give back to the fans and drivers who make this race possible. Stringer’s solution has the potential to allow the winning driver or one lucky fan from the crowd to walk away with some serious cash.
The winning driver of the 2016 Jason Leffler Memorial will automatically receive a $20,000 check for their accomplishment. After presenting the initial check, Stringer will allow the driver to select one envelope from a series of 100 envelopes that will contain various prizes. The biggest prize of all will be a check for $50,000. Once the winning driver has made their selection, then one general admission only ticket holder will have their ticket number drawn for a chance to come select one envelope from the remaining 99. If the winning driver has not selected the $50,000 prize, then this lucky fan might be the one walking away with 50k at the end of the night. The spectator drawing is being limited to only GA ticket holders because pit passes, which will also be available for purchase to the public, include drivers and their crew members.
In addition to featuring one of the most exciting prizes of the year, the Leffler Memorial Race will also feature some of the best names in racing. Past winners of the Leffler Memorial Race including World of Outlaws driver Daryn Pittman will once again take to the track along with drivers from both USAC and POWRi, who are co-sanctioning the 50-lap event.
